While working I am usually covered in a combination of paint, sweat, sawdust, cobwebs, etc., from head to toe. I’m honestly a very clean person when I’m not up a ladder painting your ceilings!

A friendly, trustworthy service, breathing new life into your home.

I would never describe myself as a tradesman, out of respect for the many great ones out there. I am qualified as a painter, technically, as I have a fine art degree. I spent three years painting pictures at Bath Spa University College, 1999-2002. It’s actually very much the same process – all in the prep, patience and attention to detail and respect for the overall process.

I really enjoy painting walls though, refreshing a tired room with rollers and brushes. It gives me tremendous satisfaction and I love working with whoever’s room it is, on colour combinations and ideas. Getting the space just how they want it. I’m forever tinkering at home, decorating my flat and upcycling old bits and pieces of furniture. It’s fun! Home is important. Get your home how you want it!

I grew up in a single parent family, with my mum and younger brother. I saw certain tradesmen and engineers at garages, etc., try to fob her off and sometimes even address a teenage me as though I held any position of authority in terms of how my mother spent her money. I remember feeling infuriated by this. I’m not about ripping anyone off or patronising them in their own home.

I do my best, work hard and won’t mess you about.

I’ve made a conscious decision not to advertise my services as such. Instead, I’m just going to talk a bit about it, share pictures of some of the jobs I’ve been working on and you can drop me a line if you’re interested. I’d rather pick up jobs by word of mouth, an approach that hopefully works both ways – I trust the nice people I work for to recommend me to their nice friends and family.

Handyman Skills!

While living in Scotland between 2007 and 2018 I worked for several years in gardening and grounds maintenance, for a commercial business in Glasgow and later as handyman on a 10,000 acre baronial estate in rural Argyll. There I painted most of the rooms in the nine bedroom 19th century mansion which had been the family home and is now a holiday rental.

I am very handy around the house and garden with most DIY tasks. I don’t do electrics or plumbing, but can fix most things, am excellent at assembling flat-pack furniture and most aspects of household carpentry. I’ve also got experience in stripping and varnishing wooden floors (see the picture at the bottom of this page).

I can turn my hand to most things, just ask. I won’t attempt to bodge something I don’t feel comfortable with, I’ll just say sorry, I can’t do that!

I don’t do wallpapering at the moment but might get into it one day. I’ll keep you posted.

Can highly recommend your work mate! It’s always spot on!!
